Since Tuesday, the terrorist group YPG/SDF has launched attacks on residential areas, civilian infrastructure, and Syrian Army positions in Aleppo.
These assaults have resulted in the deaths of 23 individuals, injuries to more than 100 others, and the displacement of roughly 165,000 residents from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods.
In March 2025, the Syrian presidency declared the signing of an accord for the SDF’s incorporation into state institutions, reaffirming Syria’s territorial unity and rejecting any attempts at fragmentation.
The following month, Syrian officials reached another agreement with the SDF concerning the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh districts, stipulating that both would be recognized as administrative parts of Aleppo while maintaining their local distinctiveness.
The accord also mandated prohibiting armed displays, limiting weapons to internal security forces, and requiring the withdrawal of SDF military units to areas east of the Euphrates River in northeastern Syria.
However, authorities have stated that in the months since, the SDF has failed to demonstrate compliance with the terms of these agreements.
