Syrian Army Captures Former Baath Members
The arrests occurred during an operation near Deir Hafir in Aleppo governorate, according to a statement issued by the Syrian Defense Ministry’s Media and Communications Directorate and published by a state-run news agency.
Following the removal of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024, Syria’s new leadership began implementing economic and political reforms aimed at improving conditions across the nation.
Assad, who had ruled Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia shortly after being ousted, marking the end of the Baath Party’s dominance, which had lasted since 1963.
In January 2025, a transitional government was established under President Ahmed al-Sharaa to guide the country through its post-Assad era.
