TOBB Plans Delegation to Damascus
During the Turkish-Arab Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting and Business Forum held in Izmir, Hisarciklioglu highlighted the challenging global climate, emphasizing that Israel's aggressive actions in Gaza and the surrounding region pose a direct threat to peace and stability.
He expressed optimism about recent developments, saying, "We are pleased to follow the normalization process in Syria."
Hisarciklioglu further mentioned, "As TOBB, we will hopefully go to Damascus in three days. We will work on how we can support Syria's reconstruction and how we can revive the private sector and entrepreneurship."
He emphasized that the EU and US decisions to lift economic sanctions on Syria are expected to significantly enhance the nation’s economic progress.
Additionally, he remarked positively on the growth of trade relations between Türkiye and Arab countries in recent years.
He recalled that two decades ago, Türkiye's exports to Arab nations stood at only USD5 billion, representing 10 percent of the country's total exports.
By 2024, this figure had surpassed USD50 billion, accounting for 20 percent of Türkiye's exports.
